The following Represents the Organisational Structure of National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi (NONM).


The National Executive Committee is the highest governing body of NONM between general meetings. It carries out its duties as defined in NONM's Constitution.
Its composition comprises; The President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasure, Vice Treasure, 5 Zone Chairpersons, The president of the Student Chapter and the Executive Director who attends the meeting with the right to speak and propose, but not to vote and also acts as a secretary.
The term of office for elected officers in the National Executive Committee of NONM is 4 years where as the zones are represented by their elected or acting chairperson at any given time which is also the case for the Student representative. The members of NEC are eligible for election for two consecutive terms only.
However a National Executive Committee member who has served for two consecutive terms is still eligible for election as president or in other positions.


The President of NONM is Chosen through Voting by the member Nurses and Midwives and entitled to a term of 4 Years in office where as can only be allowed to extend his/her term of offices to a maximum of 2 Terms. The Current President of NONM is Mrs Dorothy Ngoma.


As commanded by the Constitution, the Executive Director of NONM shall be a nurse/midwife and a member of NONM appointed through formal interviews by the National Executive Committee to serve as the chief Administrative officer to maintain the continuity of the Organisation at its headquarters.


The registered Office of NONM and the Secretariat is located in area 13, Lilongwe Malawi which is the Headquarters of the Organisation. Headed by the Executive director the secretariat is the hub of facilitating and implementing all the organisation policies and activities. The secretariat review, Monitors and advocates for regular the nursing/midwifery components of the health service of Malawi in the light of technological development and medical advances as well as making recommendations to the appropriate authorities on such matters.


National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi (NONM) has a number of projects and services that targets Student Nurses and Midwives as well as Nursing and Midwifery Education. The main objectives of the Chapter is to Ensure that health care workers are provided with training in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support so that they are up to date in HIV/AIDS knowledge and skills.
